Antrim Handweaving, Studio & Study, Spring Overshot Scarf Session Beginning in April

Antrim Handweaving, Studio & Study

 introduces the

“Spring Overshot Scarf”

A Modern Twist on a Historical Weave Structure

Overshot was originally used in the coverlets woven early in American history.  Combine traditional and contemporary fibers in today’s far-reaching colors, select from a plethora of overshot pattern choices, and you have all the elements for a sensational scarf.  This is a great opportunity to mix some of the past with some of the present and see what develops on your loom when you are inspired by both of these weaving eras.

This 6 class-session will allow the beginning weaver to advance skills as you explore a new weave structure while working with the fiber combination of bamboo, silk, wool and mohair.  Learn how to weave with or improve your use of two shuttles.  Finishing techniques include hemstitching, fringe supplementation, and fringe twisting.

Prerequisite:  Students should be familiar with a weaving draft, winding a warp, and dressing a loom
